1. From the mouth of my almost-three year-old (Tim, you're going to love this!): "Memaw, this is my Captain Hook hook. It's good for pulling boogers out your nose!"
2. From the mouth of my almost nine year-old: "Memaw, is PawPaw a lawyer? 'Cuz I really need to hire him." Memaw replies, "Yes, he is. Why do you need to hire him?" Nine year-old says, "To change my name." When she asks which name he wants to change to, my son replies, "Otto."
You guessed it, they are both boys. Now, if people wonder why I'm a writer, they only have to read this post. I have great material, and I need somewhere to put it!

Review: Larkspur Dreams
I had never read a Christian romance before, or any romance novel for that matter. So I gave Larkspur Dreams by Anita Higman a shot, and was surprised by how much I laughed while reading the book. Higman's characters stay in your mind when you're not reading the book, and even long after.
Here's the plot from the publisher's Web site: Larkspur Wendell hates to see anyone not enjoying life. So when she gets a new neighbor who seems more interested in his computer than in communication, Lark feels compelled to get to know him. But her spontaneity and zeal for life seems to push him further away. Everett Holden moved to a small town to work in peace and quiet. Now with a neighbor like Lark, he'll be lucky to get anything done. There is something attractive about her. . . but being around her brings up fears and hurts that that he put away long ago. Will Everett ever be able to put the past to rest? Will he let Lark bring him out of his shell and into true love?
The answer to those two questions is "yes" and "yes." Hey, it's a romance novel, after all!
While I'm not sure romance novels will ever be my favorite type of literature, I do know that I'll look forward to Higman's future books. Her writing just flat out makes me laugh and smile. The best part is you can buy the book from the publisher's Web site for only $2.97--less than a cup of coffee from Starbucks, and much more enjoyable.
